MEP Engineering Services in Daytona Beach

BEED Engineering provides MEP engineering for Daytona Beach and the rest of Volusia County from its Palm Bay headquarters. There is no Daytona Beach office.

The published work in this county is not one building type. FPL Data Center is an 8,000-square-foot data center in Daytona. Holly Hill Middle School is a 53,345-square-foot school addition in Holly Hill. Domino's Port Orange is a 1,400-square-foot restaurant in Port Orange. Daytona, Holly Hill, and Port Orange are separate cities. This page does not move them into Daytona Beach.

Owners, architects, contractors, and facility managers can start with mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and plumbing engineering, then contact BEED with the actual building.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering is the discipline all three Volusia projects share, and the systems are not alike. The Daytona data center uses packaged HVAC, a pressurized raised floor, hot-aisle and cold-aisle layout, exhaust, and FM-200 fire suppression in the equipment spaces. Holly Hill uses an air-cooled packaged chiller plant, energy-recovery units, and demand-based ventilation for classrooms. The Port Orange restaurant uses rooftop HVAC and kitchen hood exhaust. See What is HVAC engineering? and What is a chilled water system?.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineering is documented on the Port Orange restaurant: lighting, occupancy sensors, a main disconnect, and electrical panels. The FPL data center and the Holly Hill addition do not list electrical engineering in their published scopes. A Daytona Beach project that needs power design is scoped to that building. It is not assumed from the data center case study.

Plumbing Engineering

Plumbing engineering on the Holly Hill addition is low-flow fixtures tied to the LEED Silver systems list. On the Port Orange restaurant it is a grease trap, water-efficient fixtures, and an instant gas-fired water heater serving a production kitchen. The data center case study does not include plumbing engineering.

Industries We Serve

Published Volusia projects support three industries:

  • Data centers: the FPL facility in Daytona, mechanical engineering only
  • Education: Holly Hill Middle School, mechanical and plumbing engineering for a LEED Silver addition
  • Food service and commercial buildings: Domino's in Port Orange, a full MEP package

Healthcare, laboratory, and municipal examples in BEED’s archive are concentrated in Brevard County and Orlando. They show the firm’s range. They are not Volusia project locations.

Cards show the project name, the city where the building is located, the industry, and the engineering disciplines on that assignment. Each one links to the full case study. BEED Engineering’s office is in Palm Bay.

Why Work With BEED Engineering?

Volusia County is already in BEED’s published work, and the three buildings are different enough to be useful: a mission-critical mechanical design, a school chilled-water addition, and a small restaurant with kitchen exhaust and grease waste. The case studies keep Daytona, Holly Hill, and Port Orange as the cities where the work occurred.

BEED designs those project types from Palm Bay. Daytona Beach is a service area, not a second office. Discuss a project with the building location and the disciplines the job actually needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does BEED Engineering provide MEP engineering in Daytona Beach?

Yes. BEED provides mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering for Daytona Beach and Volusia County from its Palm Bay headquarters. The firm does not have a Daytona Beach office. Published Volusia work is an FPL data center in Daytona, Holly Hill Middle School in Holly Hill, and a Domino's restaurant in Port Orange. Those are three different cities.

What types of projects does BEED support in the Daytona Beach area?

The published record is a data center, a school addition, and a restaurant. The data center scope is mechanical engineering. The school addition is mechanical and plumbing engineering. The restaurant is mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering. Scopes are not interchangeable across those buildings.

Is the FPL data center in Daytona Beach?

The published case study locates the FPL data center in Daytona, Florida, in Volusia County. It does not label the building as inside the city limits of Daytona Beach. BEED provided mechanical engineering design for that 8,000-square-foot facility, including packaged HVAC, raised-floor air distribution, and FM-200 fire suppression. Electrical and plumbing engineering were not part of that assignment.

Does BEED provide engineering for commercial renovations in Volusia County?

Commercial renovations are part of BEED’s Florida practice. The published Volusia projects are a new data center, a school addition, and a new restaurant. BEED has not published a Volusia renovation case study.
