BEED stands for Building, Energy, Efficiency, Design. According to the U.S. Department of Energy Buildings Energy Data Book, about 39% of annual energy consumption in the United States comes from buildings — billions of dollars in energy cost each year.
Even a small reduction in building energy use yields meaningful savings. Efficient buildings also help minimize greenhouse gas emissions. Pursuing building energy efficiency is a step in the right direction.
