What to expect and prepare for an MEP facility assessment of an existing building.

- Access to roofs, mechanical rooms, and electrical rooms
- Escort and safety requirements
- Existing drawings, if they exist
- Maintenance logs and known problems
- Recent repair invoices
Systems typically reviewed
- HVAC equipment and distribution
- Controls
- Electrical service and panels
- Lighting and fire alarm (visual)
- Plumbing heaters, backflow, and obvious deficiencies
- Generators and transfer switches

After the visit
Expect a written report with prioritized recommendations. That report can feed a renovation scope or a capital plan. It is not the same as commissioning.
